I live in Trumbull and have shopped at the Stop & Shop for the last 20+ years. However, Trumbull Stop & Shop recently upgraded its check-out stations and self-pay station. The new stations make it much more difficult to use my own bags in the loading area at the end of the cash register (because of the circular plastic bag thingy). Also a new feature in the self-check out area has similar problems. If you use try and use your own bag to load your groceries, you can not continue scanning items because the light flashes to remove your item (which is actually your empty bag). By making it more difficult to use our own reusable bags brought from home, you are, by proxy, promoting the use of more plastic bags, adding to the plastic pollution which is already rampant around the globe. You should be encouraging customers to use their own bags from home by making the process easier not harder. You do sell reusable bags in Stop & Shop stores and usually have them near the registers. Why would you then make upgrades which them harder to use? If similar upgrades are happening in your other stores, I hope other patrons are complaining to you as well. The way things are now in my Trumbull Stop & Shop,... I will drive a little further down the road to shop at the ShopRite or Big Y.
Meat department is over priced and not a good selection of fresh cuts.
Most expensive chain store and yet they are too cheap to hire cashiers. My choices were wait 15 minutes in their 2 regular lines, check it myself out, or take my 20 items to the 12 or less register that was empty, where little missy informed me I was over the limit. So I left the cart there and walked out. I hope your corporate overlords are happy you lost an $80 sale tonight.
I've been coming here since I was about 3 ft high 20 or so years ago. My favorite face is Marlena.
Busy location but always stocked up with everything you need.
This place has everything necessary and is a nice trade up from the Big Y across the town line in Monroe. I would generally avoid the after church time block on Sundays. It can get a bit packed relatively quickly. They have been great with the self checkout automation and I rarely wait more than 2-5 min online before checking out.
